Local MP Kevin Humphries has denied claims he told Barwon-Darling irrigators they could access water during an embargo.
The allegations were made during ABC’s Four Corners Program last week.
Mr Humphries says he doesn’t support anyone accessing water outside the water-sharing plan rules and if someone is doing the wrong thing, they are dealt with properly.
A review investigating the allegations made in the program began today – the Prime Minister also wants an independent review of the Murray Darling Basin Plan.
The New South Wales opposition has called for the matter to be referred to ICAC.
