LOCALS LEADING IN SEASIDE CLASSIC

To golf now, and Port Macquarie’s Geri Lavender has shot a first round nine over par, to take the lead in the Ladies’ Seaside Classic.

She’s sitting three shots ahead of 2015 champion Jane Horne from Wauchope, followed by fellow local Wendy Gordon.

The westerly winds and fast greens made for challenging conditions on the opening day at Port Macquarie Golf Club.

Ladies have come from all over the state to compete in the Jean Derrin event, which is part of the 50th annual Seaside Week of Golf.

Play resumes with a seeded start at 8:30 tomorrow morning.
