Sydney’s Ray Pearse will return to Lake Cathie on Monday, to defend his ‘Big Bowl’ singles title.
In its 32nd year, the prestigious event has attracted a field of 24 elite bowlers from across Australia and abroad.
Wollongong’s Shane Garvey, who has won the event four times in the past, is expected to be one to watch, alongside Commonwealth Games representative Mark Berghofer.
While local hope Des Hancox will also be trying his luck – he took out the club’s singles competition last year.
The opening round starts at 8:30 on Monday morning.
