ANDERSON ADVANCES TO FINAL 16 IN CALIFORNIA

Merewether’s Philippa Anderson is through to the final 16, at the 6,000-point World Qualifying Series event in California.

Anderson was last for the majority of her round five heat, before a 7.7 in the closing minutes moved her into top spot.

South Africa’s Bianca Buitendag scored a 5.8 with her final wave to push the Australian into second, but Philippa still advanced to round six, and a match-up with Brazil’s Silvana Lima.
