He eliminated series heavyweight Yoshi Muroya – despite hitting a pylon – but a mistake in the Round of 8 cost Merewether’s Matt Hall valuable points, in the first-ever Air Race event in Russia.
“I felt I was struggling with the aircraft a little bit. We’ve still got a lot of work to do to get the handling set up. We don’t get enough flying at low levels to know how the plane is performing.”
Hall ended up sixth, moving to ninth in the series, ahead of the next round in Portugal.
