OURIMBAH STATION COTTAGE PLANS REMAIN ON HOLD
The future of one of the coast’s oldest buildings remains in limbo, with plans to demolish the Station Masters Cottage at Ourimbah still on hold.
The state government was on track to level the building earlier this year, claiming it is structurally unsound.
But Member for The Entrance, David Mehan, wants the government to breathe new life into the building.
“My view is and the community view is, it’s a public building, Transport for NSW, the NSW State Government needs to refurbish that building and then hand it over to the community for the community to look after.”
It’s the oldest standing timber building on the Newcastle to Central Coast train line, dating back to 1887.
