Long-serving Lismore MP Thomas George has announced he will step down at the next state election in March 2019.
The Nationals member was first elected in 1999, serving as party whip and deputy speaker.
Fellow MPs have praised Mr George for securing the $300-million-dollar Lismore Base Hospital redevelopment.
The local MP says while he’s proud of his role in the redevelopment – delivering for small communities was just as important.
