BYSTANDER APPREHENDS ALLEGED GOLD COAST ROBBER

A man will face a Gold Coast court later this year, after being apprehended during an alleged attempted robbery.
Police say that just after 7 o’clock last night, a man carrying a metal bar entered a service station on Smith Street in Southport, demanding cigarettes and money from staff.
A member of the public who was in the store disarmed the offender, placing him on the ground until police arrived.
No-one was injured during the incident.
A 23-year-old Deception Bay man appeared in court today after being charged with armed robbery.
He will reappear in Southport Magistrates Court on September 5.
