McCLOY DENIES MYSTERIOUS TELEPHONE POLLING AHEAD OF ELECTION

Newcastle developer Jeff McCloy has denied gauging support about a possible return to politics.

Ratepayers have received automated phone calls, asking who they’d vote for in September’s Lord Mayoral election – Jeff McCloy, Nuatali Nelmes or Therese Doyle.

Mr McCloy says the polling is “news to him” – but hasn’t ruled out running for his old job.

Ms Nelmes and Ms Doyle also deny being behind the calls.
