Two games in Newcastle Rugby League this afternoon – Central scored a 10 point win over Kurri, while Macquarie beat Lakes in a thriller.

At Peacock Field, it was Lakes who got off to the better start.

Macquarie hit back on the stroke of half time thanks to a lucky bounce.

Gilmire crossed early in the second half for the Seagulls, before Briggs bagged number two for the Scorpions.

Randall Briggs finished it off with an unlikely field goal.
