MINERS PUT TO THE TEST IN RESCUE COMPETITION
Underground mine workers from across Newcastle have been put through their paces in the annual Mines Rescue Competition.
Teams were faced with different scenarios, designed to test their skills in situations which could arise in real life.
“We try to make it fun, but we do try to put the brigadesmen under pressure and test their response as close as possible to an emergency,” said Peter Cornford, Regional Manager of Newcastle Mines Rescue.
The winning team will now go on to represent the state at the Australian competition later this year.
