NOISE MACHINES TO DRIVE BIRDS OUT OF PEEL STREET

Tamworth Council has started using specialised noise machines in the CBD in a bid to rid the area of Starling and Indian Myna birds.
Numbers along Peel Street have increased as breeding season approaches – council is now undertaking daily clean-ups because of the mess the birds leave behind.
Small speakers have been placed in trees to deter them from nesting.
“They’re essentially a controller with a speaker box that play sounds of various birds. Some of those birds…. Are sounds of birds in distress, and others are sounds of birds of prey.”
Water spraying will also be used during August when the birds are expected to lay eggs.
