A 37-year-old man has been charged with murder after he allegedly assaulted a man in Wee Waa yesterday afternoon.
Police were called to business on Culgoora Street in Wee Waa just after 4.30 following reports two men were fighting.
It’s believed the 37-year-old man hit a 57-year-old man in the head with a hammer and wrench.
He was taken to Narrabri Hospital in a critical condition and later airlifted to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital, he died early this morning.
The 37-year-old man was arrested a short time at a licensed premises on Rose Street, police also seized a firearm.
He was refused bail in Moree Local Court this morning.
