COFFS COAST’S ITALIAN CONNECTION
A reminder today of Coffs Harbour’s rich Italian history, with the presentation of an historic photograph to the city’s museum.
The photo taken at Boambee Reserve in 1956, features 134 of Coffs Harbour’s first Italian immigrants, celebrating the ordination of the city’s first Catholic priest, Father John Dacey.
The now 85-year-old Father Dacey was joined today by Sergio Spagnolo, who’s grandmother was the first Italian woman to settle in the area in 1935.
The museum is now hoping to build on the donation to collate a full history of local Italian settlement.
