WORK BEGINS ON NEW PEDESTRIAN FOOTBRIDGE

While most people enjoyed a break from work over the long weekend, a 110-strong crew was busy building a new pedestrian footbridge in Newcastle.
A 30-metre long girder was installed over the rail corridor at Railway Street.
Almost 2,000 metres of overhead wiring was also put into place between Hamilton Station and the new transport interchange, so trains can run there later this year.
