NON-GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS RECEIVE GONSKI GRANT

Non-government schools in the Myall Lakes region, have received an extra Federal Government grant through its Gonski Funding.
“It’s on top of what they normally would get, it is a bonus, they’ve just received ninety-one thousand and they’ll be receiving more money before the end of the year.”
While schools can choose how they spend the money, the state member for the Myall Lakes, Stephen Bromhead, says teacher’s aides are high on many wishlists.
“Identifying children that are falling through the cracks and then getting teachers aids to go with a teacher to work with those children 1 on 1 or 2 on 2.”
It comes at time when funding for private and independent schools is being hotly debated.
