GLOUCESTER COCKIES TO HOLD WOMEN’S RUGBY COMP
After not getting enough teams for a under 17’s women’s rugby 7’s comp this season, the Gloucester Cockies have decided they still wanted to play.
The club will now host a gala day for young women in the area who want to have a run on the field.
“The girls have had 12 weeks of training under their belt so they’re super excited and super keen. So we ended up saying lets host a gala day, let’s get some teams here in Glousecter so hopefully we get some more games from that.”
Team Manager Jodie Whitby says she hasn’t been able to stop her players since the Australian Women’s 7’s team won gold at last year’s Olympics.
The girls will be donning pink socks to raise money for the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation.
Club entries close on the 20th June.
