CHARGES LAID AFTER DISCOVERY OF GOLD COAST GUN FACTORY
A 36-year-old man has been charged with a number of firearm related offences, following the alleged discovery of a large scale weapons production facility late last year.
Task force police executed search warrants on four residential properties and two business premises located on the Gold Coast last November.
At one of the businesses in Nerang, police allegedly located an illicit weapons manufacturing facility containing drill presses, lathes, and other equipment used to produce fully automatic machine guns.
Police also allegedly located four homemade machine guns, three silencers, ammunition, magazines, and other gun parts.
A 36-year-old man was today charged with two counts of unlawfully possessing category R weapons and two counts of manufacturing weapons whilst not licensed.
He will appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court later this month.
