FITZROY STREET CLOSED TO TRAFFIC FROM JUNE 13

Tamworth’s version of ‘Martin Place’ is starting to take shape, with work on the Fitzroy Street upgrade entering a new phase.

From Tuesday, the section of road between Kable Avenue and Peel Street will be closed to all traffic until construction is complete.

The taxi rank outside the Post Office Hotel will move around the corner to Kable Avenue for the time being.

Pedestrians will still have access to the road.

Once finished, the $4-million revamp will include wi-fi, water stations, bicycle parking and street furniture.
