RESCUE EXERCISE TARGETS ROCK FISHING ACCIDENTS
A multi-agency rescue exercise is being conducted at a Newcastle beach today .
More than 90 personnel are expected to participate in the exercise at Bar Beach, including representatives from Westpac Rescue Helicopter, Police, Fire & Rescue NSW, NSW Paramedics, and Newcastle City Council.
The operation will involve the response to four people injured on the rocks at the bottom of a cliff, and is designed to test existing arrangements when responding to rock fishing incidents.
Emergency Services personnel are also using the opportunity to remind rock fishers to take the right precautions and exercise extreme caution when fishing.
