SOLAR INSTALLATIONS TO SAVE RATEPAYERS OVER $150,000

Lake Macquarie City Council now has solar systems capable of generating 550kW of power, following the installation of 241 new solar panels at its Works Depot.

It’s estimated the solar conversions will save ratepayers around $156,000 per year, and has reduced carbon emissions by 856 tonnes a year.

14 per cent of homes are also estimated to have solar power systems installed on rooftops around Lake Macquarie.

The other major council sites with solar installations include Lake Macquarie City Art Gallery, West Wallsend Swim Centre, Swansea Multi-Purpose Centre, and the Council Administration Building.
