WEATHER AND WHALES FOR THE FIRST TWO DAYS OF JULIANA’S PADDLE

After an eventful start to her marathon board paddle from Newcastle to the Sunshine Coast, Juliana Bahr Thomson is settling into rhythm of the task ahead.
Juliana ran into large swell, freezing temperatures, and windy conditions shortly after leaving Newcastle Harbour on Sunday.
But conditions improved on day two, with Juliana coming close to a large whale between Birubi Point and Shoal Bay, off Port Stephens.
She departs for Broughton Island tomorrow.
Juliana’s epic voyage is in aid of the White Ribbon Foundation.
