Health Minister Brad Hazzard has announced Chief Psychiatrist Dr Murray Wright, will chair a six-person review into mental health services throughout New South Wales.
The independent inquiry was prompted by the death of mentally ill mother-of-two Miriam Merten, who died in a Lismore mental health ward in 2014.
It will consider whether existing policies and practices around seclusion and restraint meet community expectations.
Panellists will visit hospitals, mental health units and emergency departments throughout the state during the inquiry.
It’s findings are expected by early December.
