FESTIVAL TO INSPIRE FUTURE STORYTELLERS

High school students from the Hastings will immerse themselves in the art of storytelling tomorrow at Port Macquarie’s inaugural LitFest.

The event at MacKillop College will feature workshops and seminars.

“Some are authors from the young adult genre, but we also have practitioners of podcasting, blogging, filmmaking, zines and comics, illustrators,” Organiser Karen Bale said.

Author Nick Earls is one of the keynote speakers, hoping to inspire the next generation.

“If they get 1 thing out of what I’m talking about tomorrow, it’s not to lose those small ideas, and to realise they’ve got potential, and to keep them and play with them and create characters and stories from that,” he said.
