VACCINATION STATUS FLAGGED

Unimmunised patients will be electronically flagged, as part of a new system for treating rare, vaccine-preventable conditions on the North Coast.
It follows an investigation by the local health district, after a seven-year-old girl was diagnosed with tetanus at Lismore Base Hospital in March.
“It will be for all unimmunised conditions that may present, and obviously there are those standard ones, measles, whopping cough and so forth, but this will focus on those that require the rarer interventions, such as tetanus”
The recommendation was part of a report, finalised on Monday.
