‘Cyber Safety’ workshops are being held across the Manning Valley this week for a group of community members who are new to the online world.
The workshops are designed to teach older residents about online security, including viruses, privacy protection and scams.
Each year millions of dollars is lost to scammers in Australia.
“When in doubt my motto is don’t. I know I haven’t won a Toyota Kluger and they keep telling me I have,” said one workshop attendee.
“This section of the community is vulnerable because they are so rapidly taking up the technology and connecting with the world which is wonderful,” said Chris Jones, Manager of Mid Coast Libraries.
