NEWCASTLE POLICE PURSUIT ENDS WITH ARREST
A man has been arrested after allegedly ramming a police vehicle with a stolen car near Newcastle earlier this week.
About 2.15am on Monday, police tried to stop a stolen Mazda on Hannell Street in Wickham.
A pursuit began but ended moments later due to dangerous conditions.
The car was spotted on Bullecourt Circuit in nearby Kotara.
The Mazda allegedly reversed into a police vehicle, colliding heavily with the driver’s side door then sped away.
No one was injured and the Mazda was later found in bushland in Raymond Terrace.
Following inquiries, about 7.15pm yesterday, officers arrested a 20-year-old man at an address in Raymond Terrace.
He was charged with eight weapon, traffic and theft related offences.
He was refused bail to appear at Raymond Terrace Local Court today.
