125 YEARS FOR MARTINS CREEK PUBLIC
It’s endured a challenging few years, but today Martins Creek Public School celebrated a milestone.
It’s 125 years since the gates first opened, and the small community gathered to watch current students revisit history.
In 2013, the school fought a very public campaign to stay open, after enrolments fell to just six pupils.
It won – and now 14 attend every day.
“It keeps the links for the past and it’s a very nurturing school and some children need nurturing schools we can’t really afford to do without them.”

Congratulations to a great little school. It gives children opportunities to excel which they wouldn’t get at bigger schools, cares for them, lets them function in beautiful surroundings, and doesn’t cost much to run. What’s not to like about that? We need more of them!
