WOULD BE ROBBER HANDS HIMSELF IN
A man who allegedly tried to hold-up a Lake Macquarie restaurant with a machete, has handed himself into police.
Authorities say just after 10pm last night, the man broke into a Belmont business through a side door.
He reportedly demanded cash from the staff inside the Pacific Highway restaurant but left empty handed.
A short time later, a 21-year-old man handed himself into the Belmont Police Station.
Police arrested and charged him with two attempted armed robbery related offences.
A machete was later found near the restaurant and taken for forensic analysis.
The man was refused bail and will appear in the Newcastle Local Court today.
