MAN CHARGED AFTER DRUG MAKING CHEMICALS FOUND IN LAKE MACQUARIE HOME

A man has been charged after mixture of chemicals allegedly associated with drug manufacture were located during a search warrant at Lake Macquarie yesterday.

About 8.30am yesterday, officers searched a home in Tingira Heights while investigating an earlier break-in at Charlestown.

Police located a man inside the Regent Street home allegedly disposing items consistent with a clandestine laboratory.

Officers arrested a 30-year-old man and requested the Hazmat squad and the State Crime Command Chemical Operations Unit to attend the crime scene.

Several items were sent for further forensic analysis.

The man was taken to Belmont Police Station and charged with break, enter and steal, resist arrest, possess precursor and possess apparatus .

He was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Belmont Local Court on Wednesday 17 May 2017.
