MAN ARRESTED FOLLOWING VIOLENT POLICE CHASE
A 24-year-old man has been arrested following an incident in the Northern Tablelands last week, where a police car was rammed during a chase.
About 3.55am last Friday (28 April 2017), a Toyota Landcruiser ute was stolen from a property on Strathbogie Road, Wellingrove.
It was spotted again after allegedl fail to pay drive off from a petrol station in South Grafton, then later detected about 1km past the Glen Innes Correctional Facility.
When police tried to pull over but the stolen vehicle, the passenger side of a patrol car was damaged with no reports of injuries.
The vehicle again evaded police by driving into a paddock on Strathbogie Road, North West of Glen Inne and was later found abandoned.
Police suspect the incident is allegedly linked to the theft of a Rural Fire Service ute, which was stolen from Glen Innes about 3pm yesterday.
Following inquiries, about 11.15am today, police arrested a man north of Glen Innes. He has been taken to Armidale Police Station where he is assisting with inquiries.
