PANEL TO DISCUSS QUARRY PROPOSAL

A proposed quarry at Herons Creek, south of Port Macquarie, will be considered by the Northern Joint Regional Planning Panel tomorrow.

The application seeks permission to mine four million tonnes of hard rock over 20 years.

But it’s sparked loud opposition from residents, who say it will harm wildlife and local waterways.

A public determination meeting will be held at Herons Creek Chapel at 4:30pm.
