FINAL TOUCHES ON NEWCASTLE ATHLETICS FIELD

Newcastle athletes are a week away from enjoying a new world class track.
After months of renovations, the finishing touches – a bright blue top coat – is being applied to the track at the Fearnley Dawes Athletic Centre.
“We hope hundreds, if not thousands of people will come and use the facility,” Scott Westcott said.
“As soon as the paint dries we will be opening the doors for people to come and use the track, their training groups, recreational runners, personal trainers. We welcome everyone to test out the venue,” he said.
It’s one of two facilities world wide, custom made for wheelchair racing.
The centre hopes it will help attract more elite wheelchair athletes in the future.
