Gunnedah’s CBD will now become a smoke-free zone, after councillors unanimously decided to endorse the proposal last night.
The blanket ban will be in place for most of Conadilly Street, with access to side streets for people who want to smoke.
Highly visible signage will also be installed along the walkways.
The new rules will be enforced by a compliance officer, with offenders potentially facing an on-the-spot fine.
