RAAF JETS HELP CELEBRATE 10TH SAIL PORT STEPHENS

The third and final race of the Commodores Cup got underway in spectacular style at Nelson Bay today.

The fly-over, by three RAAF Hawk jets, marked the 10th running of Sail Port Stephens.

The event forms part of the port’s month-long ‘Season of Sailing’, which is expected to provide a big boost to the local economy.

“We estimate there’s 180 boats, over 2000 people and they’re staying for anywhere up to 10 days at a time. It produces about a $2-million impact over the whole season of sailing,” said Regatta Director Paul O’Rourke.
