LASTEST CRIME STATS FOR NEW ENGLAND NORTH WEST
The latest crime statistics are in and while majority of offences are down across the state there’s been some concerning results for the New England North West.
Theft from motor vehicles is up 89 per cent in the former Armidale council area, with 499 incidents reported in 2016 – there was also a notable increase in Glen Innes.
162 thefts from homes were recorded in Inverell local government area last year – up 67 per cent.
Fraud more than doubled in Armidale with 241 incidents recorded in 20-16.
It wasn’t all bad news though – Gunnedah faired well with home and car thefts halved last year.
While assaults and sexual offences were stable across the region.
