Hunter police today took part in a statewide traffic blitz, targeting dangerous driving in and around school zones.
The operation focused on motorists using mobile phones, and exceeding the speed limit.
“Young children have a habit of running between parked cars and we want to get the message out there that schools zones are limited for a reason and that is because young children are frequent during those school zone periods,” said Senior Sergent Justin Cornes.
By late this afternoon, 57 drivers across the region had been issued with fines as a result of the blitz.
