25-YEAR-OLD CHARGED OVER ALLEGED ATTACK ON HOMELESS MAN
A homeless man has been assaulted during an attack on the Far North Coast.
Around 10:30 on Sunday night, a 29-year-old homeless man was sleeping on a bench in Apex Park in Byron Bay, when he was approached by a man demanding money.
The man allegedly kicked and stomped the head of the homeless man a number of times.
Witnesses called emergency services, and the homeless man was taken to Byron District Hospital where he was treated for a large cut to the back of his head.
Police subsequently charged a 25-year-old man with reckless wounding, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and use intimidation/violence to unlawfully influence person.
