WINCH TRAINING IN NEW CHOPPERS
A paramedic was winched onto a moving vessel in Ballina this afternoon as part of a joint training exercise between the Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter and Marine Rescue.
The aim of the exercise – to prepare emergency services for when the new $18 million Agusta Westland helicopters become operational next month.
“It’s really good training for our guys to get used to working with the new type helicopter and particularly the stronger downwash from the new chopper”
Training for the larger and more powerful helicopters has been underway since January.
