PROPOSED SERVO DENIED BY SINGLETON COUNCIL

A proposed service station that sparked community division has been refused development by Singleton Council.

The highway service station on Bridgman Road would have included a take away premises, and two ancillary shops.

Councillors at last night’s extraordinary meeting denied the application on the grounds that it was in a high hazard floodway, was inconsistent in the agricultural production zone, and could potentially increase traffic congestion.

Mayor of Singleton Sue Moore said council had to weigh up both sides and make a decision based on the interests of the community.
