HAMWICKS POISED FOR WIN AFTER DAY 1 OF GRAND FINAL

Hamilton-Wickham is in a commanding position after day one of Newcastle cricket’s decider, largely thanks to Mark Dries, who claimed an incredible 5/16 with the ball, before posting 43 with the bat.
Sent in after losing the toss, Belmont found it tough going – it’s top-order skittled.
Batting at 8, Daniel Bailey provided some resistance.
But when he was trapped in front, their innings was all but over.
Hamwicks wasted no time chasing that total down, and although there were a few hiccups along the way, they’re in a very strong position ahead of tomorrow’s final day.
