The Westpac Rescue helicopter, last night, winched a 27-year-old woman from the water at Snapper Point in the Munmorah State Conservation Area after she was washed off rocks while fishing.
The rescue crew says, her boyfriend had thrown her a life ring which probably saved her life.
The woman was flown to John Hunter Hospital suffering hypothermia and scratches, but was released late last night.
The couple hadn’t been wearing life jackets, prompting more calls from authorities for anglers to take safety more seriously.
