Port Stephens and Newcastle are among the top ten councils in the state to have the most candidates for the upcoming local government elections
Some suggest dissatisfaction with the councils is fuelling the flurry of nominations, with 64 councillor candidates and seven mayoral candidates running in Newcastle alone.
