BYRON TO MEET ROVERS IN ANZAC CUP SHOWDOWN

Football Far North Coast’s fiercest rivals – Byron Bay and the Richmond Rovers – will once again meet in the preseason ANZAC Cup final.

Played at Oakes Oval next month – the match will be a replay of last year’s decider, where Rovers led throughout and prevailed 6-nil.

“I’m sure Byron will be pretty keen, to get one back on them.”

“Both teams have had some really good form in this year’s competition. Byron Bay have scored 28 goals in the competition and Rovers have scored 18 goals themselves, so yeah it should be a cracker of a game.”

Rovers earned their spot yesterday afternoon – downing Goonellabah 2-1.

Byron, meanwhile, beat Lismore Thistles at home on Friday night to qualify for the clash.
