PLANS GOING AHEAD FOR THE NATION’S LARGEST PRISON YET

A significant milestone for the new Grafton jail…
The state government releasing artist impressions of the new building this week.
Also announcing Northern Pathways Consortium has won the tender to build the 1700-bed facility.
Federal Minister for Corrections, David Elliott says when the correctional centre opens in 2020 it will be Australia’s largest of its kind.
“We’ll see $560 million spent in the local economy of Grafton, 1100 jobs during the construction phase and around 600 jobs during the period it is operational.”
It’ll be built 12 kilometres south-east of Grafton.
