HUNTER ENGINEER AWARDED PRESTIGIOUS SCHOLARSHIP
A Hunter engineer is about to embark on the opportunity of a lifetime – undertake a doctorate at Cambridge University.
Catherine Richards is one of 20 Australians to be awarded a prestigious scholarship through the General Sir Monash and Origin foundations.
“Obviously the opportunity to go and study at the University of Cambridge is a life-changing one. Hopefully I can bring back the knowledge and skills I gain there to make a better future for Australia and the sustainable development of our resources,” said Miss Richards.
The 27-year-old is the second University of Newcastle graduate to receive the scholarship in recent years.
“I think the region needs to be proud of the University of Newcastle. These scholarships are highly sought after. It’s the best of the best that get them,” said Sean Barrett, Head of the Origin Foundation.
