TAMWORTH’S FILM AND SOUND ARCHIVE ONE OF THE BEST IN REGIONAL AUSTRALIA
It’s been touted as one of the country’s best regional film and sound archives and today the value of the Tamworth collection was investigated by an historian from Canberra.
Dating back to 1916 the local sound and film archive houses around 7000 pieces of material.
The collection is being assessed as part of the Community Heritage Grants Program.
“The world war one soldiers, glass slides.. They’re remarkable. A very coherent and complete collection.. That was fortunately discovered.”
If more funding is available a preservation specialist will then inspect the collection.
