VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS LOSE HOME SOUTH OF KEMPSEY
Two RFS volunteers lost their home in yesterday’s bushfire at Dondingalong, south of Kempsey.
One of them was on his way to fight the blaze, when it quickly tore through the property.
His wife, who was still at home, managed to escape the flames by jumping into a dam.
The RFS says it’s extremely lucky no more houses or livestock, were lost.
The out-of-control blaze has torn through more than 450 hectares of bushland.
