SOLID START FOR PHILIPPA ANDERSON AT GREAT LAKES PRO

Mixed fortunes for Hunter surfers at the Great Lakes Pro, with James McMorland knocked out in round two, while Chris Michalak dominated his third round heat.
Merewether’s Philippa Anderson was equally effective in the women’s 1000-point qualifying series event at Boomerang.
The 24-year-old scored an eight and a seven in round one, to outclass her three rivals in the inconsistent conditions.
“It’s still really fun, there’s swell. We’ve had a few contests this year that were really small so even though it’s all over the shop, to have swell is really good.”
