LISMORE DIOCESE AMONG WORST FOR CHILD SEXUAL ASSAULT

More priests have been accused of sexually assaulting children in the Lismore Catholic Diocese than almost any other region.
It’s a startling finding to come from the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.
Almost 14 percent of the diocese’s priests from 1950 to 2010 were alleged perpetrators.
Lismore was named one of five areas with the most abuse claims in the country.
Meanwhile, it’s been revealed the Marist Brothers were among the highest offending religious institution – and were the focus of a case study examining alleged historic sexual assaults in Lismore.
